16.2: Toes to Bar & I Are Not Friends

This week was a little better than last week. I watched the announcement of the workout and felt optimistic about it. The workout involved 25 toes to bar, 50 double unders and squat cleans. The weight increased each round while the number of reps decreased by 2. I was more worried about the squat clean than the toes to bar. Boy was I wrong.
4-min. AMRAP + bonus time:
25 toes-to-bars
50 double-unders
15 squat cleans*
Time extends 4 minutes each time a round is completed.
* Reps decrease. Load increases.
For scaled, you did hanging knee raises and single under with lighter weight but the same amount of reps.
I attempted the RX version. Twice. One time I made it through 21 toes to bar. Another 20. I tried different techniques each time. Apparently, my toes to bar need work.
So I went on to do scaled. I made it through 2 full rounds and almost all of the third, falling short by four reps.
I am not extremely proud of this week's workout, and I don't have that much to say about it. But what I can say is, I squat cleaned every rep in round one and round two!

So I did 15 squat cleans at 55lbs and 13 squat cleans at 75lbs. It felt heavier than I thought it should. But I got through it. 28 squat cleans is a LOT for anyone. When I got to the 3rd round which was 95lbs, I knew I would need to power it and front squat it. I did that, seven times and was only shy of completing the 3rd round by four reps.
Here is photographic evidence that I can in fact get low enough for a squat clean! So while I didn't do amazing in the workout, I am proud for squatting all the reps that I did.
Until next week Open fans....
